My husband and I had our wedding ceremony at the historic Minneapolis City Hall. The atrium, where the wedding ceremony is held, is absolutely beautiful. It has big marble staircases and large landings, beautiful stained glass windows. Walking into the main area and looking up at the architecture in the main atrium is breathtaking, and it looked amazing in all of the photos. The City Hall is a very iconic and recognizable building in Minneapolis, but few people realize how beautiful it is inside – both my out-of-town guests, as well as those who were from the Twin Cities, were amazed at this hidden gem! The price for renting the City Hall was really reasonable, and the coordinator on their side was great to work with. It was really easy to coordinate all of the details (even from out of town, since I don’t live in Minneapolis), so we could set decorations up the day before, and so that everything was ready when we arrived. It was also really nice that, because it’s such a big building, there was lots of space for getting ready – both the guys and the girls had their own large rooms to use before the wedding. One thing we were worried about originally was the giant statue of a river god that is in the middle of the floor. However, it ended up being a great talking piece (you couldn’t miss it!), and chairs were arranged carefully so that it didn’t block people’s view. It also means you don’t come down a central aisle, but instead you enter by descending the grand marble staircase – a pretty amazing entrance.
